Copenhagen Home Design is a family business founded in Copenhagen in 1923 and now owned by the fourth generation. Originally established as Chr. Jørgensen, the business launched its online shop in 2015 under the name Copenhagen Home Design, reflecting its origins in central Copenhagen. We specialise in handles, fittings and table extension mechanisms and supply kitchen and furniture manufacturers in Denmark and elsewhere in Europe.

Our history
In 1923, Viggo Kristian Jørgensen founded Chr. Jørgensen at his home on Fredericiagade in Copenhagen. He had previously served as an attendant to King Christian X in the Royal Life Guards, an experience that inspired the company name. Later, while working as a sales representative for furniture factories in Copenhagen, he developed an interest in design and the idea of supplying handles to cabinetmakers and furniture manufacturers. Together with his wife, Danielly Marianne Jørgensen, he grew the business and opened a shop on Fredericiagade.
In 1950, their son Viggo Dan Jørgensen joined the business, which moved to Rosengården in Copenhagen that same year. Following Kristian's death in 1956, his wife took over. She and Viggo expanded the business internationally, reaching customers around the world.
In 1965, the company began producing its own handles. The first range consisted of wooden cup handles, with B&O among its customers.
In 1988, third-generation owner Per Dan Jørgensen bought the company from his father and moved it to new premises in Allerød. In the following years, he reorganised the business and established important relationships with manufacturing partners.
In 2015, Christian Dan Jørgensen, representing the fourth generation, took over from his father. The online shop launched the same year as Copenhagen Home Design, a name reflecting the company's beginnings in Copenhagen.
